Legal Open Educational Resources : Home

Introduction

The Creative Commons definition of Open Educational Resources (OERs) is "teaching, learning, and research materials that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others."

Here are some possible advantages of Legal OERs:

  • Over the course of their law school careers, students could spend several thousand dollars on casebooks.
  • OERs could lead to tens of thousands of dollars being saved per class.
  • OERs may be better suited for students in a remote or hybrid learning environment.
  • Law professors can collaborate to create and adapt OERs, giving students the advantage of being able to learn from diverse viewpoints.
