Introduction

This guide identifies online and print resources used for researching federal administrative law and Ohio administrative law. 

All print resources mentioned are available in the Capital University Law School Library. 

Federal Administrative Law

The Code of Federal Regulations publishes the final regulations of federal agencies. The arrangement is by subject. The Code of Federal Regulations is published annually.

The List of CFR Sections Affected lists proposed, new, and amended federal regulations that have been published in the Federal Register since the most recent revision date of the Code of Federal Regulations. It is arranged by title and section of the Code of Federal Regulations. The List of Sections Affected is updated monthly.

The Federal Register publishes proposed regulations, final regulations, executive orders, requests for proposals, and meeting notices. It is arranged by agency. The Federal Register is published each weekday.

Regulations.gov is the online source for federal regulations from nearly 300 federal agencies. Search Regulations.gov for proposed rules, final rules, or Federal Register notices. Public comments and supporting documents for proposed and final rules may be viewed on this site.

The Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents has been replaced by the Daily Compilation of Presidential Documents as of January 29, 2009. The Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents was the official publication of presidential statements, messages, remarks, and other materials released by the White House Press Secretary. 

The Daily Compilation of Presidential Documents continues the Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents as of January 20, 2009. It is the official publication of presidential statements, messages, remarks, and other materials released by the White House Press Secretary.

The United States Government Manual is the official handbook of the federal government. It provides comprehensive information on the agencies of the legislative, judicial, and executive branches. It includes information on quasi-official agencies, international organizations in which the United States participates, and boards, commissions, and committees. 

Ohio Administrative Law

The Ohio Administrative Code publishes the final regulations of Ohio executive agencies. The arrangement is by agency.

The Ohio Monthly Record publishes final regulations of Ohio executive agencies approved since the publication of the print edition of the Ohio Administrative Code. The Ohio Monthly Record is published monthly July through June. It is arranged chronologically and then by agency.

The Register of Ohio publishes both proposed and recently adopted final regulations of Ohio executive agencies. It provides public notice and information about state agency rule-making proceedings, including notices of public hearings. Documents published in the Register of Ohio include the text of proposed rules, final rules, no-change rules, and emergency rules. The Register of Ohio also publishes the text of withdrawn proposed and final rules.

The Joint Committee of Agency Rule Review publishes the JCARR Weekly ReportsJCARR Weekly Reports list agency rules filed each week. The arrangement is by agency.
